Sayyidah Ra'itah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), was a skilled craftswoman. Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) had no wealth, and she used to spend on him and his children from the price of her handiwork. She said (to Ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him): "By Allah, you and your children keep me from giving charity, so I am not able to give anything in charity while with you." He said: "If there is no reward for you in it, I would not like you to do it." So the two of them asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is a reward for you in it."
