حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا عَبِيدَةُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ، عَنِ امْرَأَتِهِ، عَنْ أُخْتِ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَتْ: خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ أَمَا لَكُنَّ فِي الْفِضَّةِ مَا تَحَلَّيْنَ بِهِ أَمَا أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْكُنَّ امْرَأَةٌ تَحَلَّى ذَهَبًا إِلَّا عُذِّبَتْ عَلَيْهِ»
Sayyidah Khawlah bint al-Yaman al-Absiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), the sister of Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him), said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed us and said: "O women, is silver not sufficient for you to adorn yourselves with? Listen, any woman among you who wears gold will be punished for it."
