It is narrated from Shahr bin Hawshab that he met Sayyidah Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her), and she told me that she gave the pledge of allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day he (peace and blessings be upon him) took the pledge from the women. She came forward and stretched out her hand to give him the pledge, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) withheld his hand and said: "I do not shake hands with women; rather, I only take their pledge by word." Sayyidah Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I was wearing a garment and jewellery. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Asma!" I said: Here I am, O Messenger of Allah, at your service and gladly. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Would it please you to be branded with this jewellery?" I said: How is that, O Messenger of Allah? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever wears gold, or puts gold on any of his children, even as much as a tiny earring or a locust's leg, will be branded with it on the Day of Resurrection."
