حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ دُحَيْمٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْفِطْرِيُّ، عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهَا أَسْمَاءَ قَالَتْ: «أُهْدِيَتْ جَدَّتُكَ فَاطِمَةُ إِلَى جَدُّكَ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا، فَمَا كَانَ حَشْوَ فِرَاشِهَا ووِسادَتِهَا إِلَّا لِيفٌ، وَلَقَدْ أَوْلَمَ عَلِيٌّ بِفَاطِمَةَ فَمَا كَانَتْ وَلِيمَتُهُ فِي ذَلِكَ الزَّمَانِ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ وَلِيمَتِهِ، رَهَنَ دِرْعَهُ عِنْدَ يَهُودِيٍّ بِشَطْرِ شَعِيرٍ»
Sayyidah Asma' (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Your grandmother Fatimah was sent as a bride to your grandfather Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both), and the stuffing of her bed and pillow was nothing but palm fibre. Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) gave a wedding feast (walimah) for Fatimah, and in that time there was no wedding feast better than his. He had pawned his coat of mail with a Jew for half (a measure) of barley."
