Sayyidah Asma' bint Umays (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "I was present at the wedding procession of Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When morning came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came and knocked on the door, and Umm Ayman (may Allah be pleased with her) got up and opened the door for him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'O Umm Ayman! Call my brother.' She said: Is he your brother - this was a Yemeni expression - when you have married your daughter to him? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'O Umm Ayman! Call him for me.' The women heard the voice of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so they gathered themselves together and sat to one side. Then Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) came, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated for him and sprinkled water on him. Then he said: 'Call Fatimah for me.' So she came, drenched in sweat - or burning - out of shyness. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: 'Be quiet; I have married you to the most beloved person of my household to me.' And he supplicated for her, called for water and sprinkled it on her. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) went out and saw a figure, and said: 'Who is this?' She said: Asma'. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'The daughter of Umays?' I said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Were you present at the wedding procession of the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to honour her?' I said: Yes. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated for me."
