حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: بَلَغَ صَفِيَّةَ أَنَّ حَفْصَةَ، قَالَتْ: بِنْتُ يَهُودِيٍّ، فَبَكَتْ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهِيَ تَبْكِي، فَقَالَ: «مَا شَأْنُكِ؟» ، قَالَتْ: قَالَتْ لِي حَفْصَةُ أَنِّي بِنْتُ يَهُودِيٍّ، فَقَالَ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ «إِنَّكِ ابْنَةُ نَبِيٍّ، وَإِنَّ عَمَّكِ لِنَبِيٌّ، وَإِنَّكِ تَحْتَ نَبِيٍّ فَبِمَ تَفْخَرُ عَلَيْكِ؟» ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «اتَّقِي اللهَ يَا حَفْصَةُ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: It reached Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) had said: The daughter of a Jew. So she began to weep. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to her while she was weeping, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What is the matter with you?" She said: Hafsah said to me that I am the daughter of a Jew. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "You are the daughter of a prophet, your paternal uncle is also a prophet, and you are married to a prophet. So what can she boast over you about?" Then he said: "Hafsah! Fear Allah."
