حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا جُمْهُورُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ثنا سِنَانُ بْنُ هَارُونَ الْبُرْجُمِيُّ، عَنْ أَشْعَثُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ «يَتَوَضَّأُ بِالْمُدِّ، وَيَغْتَسِلُ بِالصَّاعِ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ablution with one mudd of water and take the ritual bath (ghusl) with one sa'.
