حَدَّثَنَا مُطَّلِبُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ بِنْتِ رِشْدِينَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، قَالَا: ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، ثنا اللَّيْثُ، حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْهَادِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: مَاتَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ حَافِنَتِي وَدَافِنَتِي، فَلَا أَكْرَهُ شِدَّةَ الْمَوْتِ لِأَحَدٍ أَبَدًا، بَعْدَمَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَمُوتُ وَعِنْدَهُ قَدَحٌ فِيهِ مَاءٌ، يُدْخِلُ يَدَهُ فِي الْقَدَحِ ثُمَّ يَمْسَحُ وَجْهَهُ بِالْمَاءِ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: «اللهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى سَكَرَاتِ الْمَوْتِ»
Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away between my chin and my throat (in my embrace), so I will never again dislike the severity of death for anyone, after I saw how the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was passing away. He (peace and blessings be upon him) had a bowl of water beside him; he (peace and blessings be upon him) would put his hand into the bowl and wipe water over his face, and say: "O Allah, help me through the agonies of death."
