حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ، ثنا رَبَاحُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ قُبِضَ مُسْنِدٌ ظَهْرَهُ إِلَيَّ فَدَخَلَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَفِي يَدِهِ سِوَاكٌ، فَدَعَا بِهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَخَذْتُ السِّوَاكَ فَلَيَّنْتُهُ، ثُمَّ دَفَعْتُهُ إِلَيْهِ فَجَعَلَ يَسْتَنُّ بِهِ، فَثَقُلَتْ يَدُهُ وَثَقُلُ عَلَيَّ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: «اللهُمَّ فِي الرَّفِيقِ» الْأَعْلَى، قَالَتْ: ثُمَّ قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ بَيْنَ سَحْرِي وَنَحْرِي
Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) related: At the time of his passing, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was resting his back against me. Just then Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them both) came in with a miswak in his hand, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for that miswak. I took it and softened it, then gave it to him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) began to clean his teeth with it. Then his (peace and blessings be upon him) hand grew heavy and he became a weight upon me, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: "O Allah, with the Highest Companion." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was between my chest and my neck.
