حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ رِشْدِينَ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِلَالٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا قَتَادَةَ، يَقُولُ: «بَيْنَا نَحْنُ جُلُوسٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ نَنْتَظِرُ الصَّلَاةَ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ بِنْتُ بِنْتِهِ أُمَامَةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ وَأُمُّهَا زَيْنَبُ يَحْمِلُهَا عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ يُكَبِّرُ، وَهِيَ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ، فَإِذَا رَكَعَ وَضَعَهَا بِالْأَرْضِ، وَإِذَا قَامَ أَعَادَهَا عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ حَتَّى قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ وَهُوَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ»
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were sitting in the mosque waiting for the prayer when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to us, and on his (peace and blessings be upon him) shoulder was his (peace and blessings be upon him) granddaughter Umamah bint Abi al-As bin al-Rabi', whose mother was Zaynab. He (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying the takbir while carrying her on his shoulder, and she was on his (peace and blessings be upon him) shoulder. When he bowed, he would put her down on the ground, and when he stood, he would lift her onto his shoulder again, until he completed the prayer, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) kept doing this.
