Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), narrated that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Madinah, his (peace and blessings be upon him) daughter Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) set out from Makkah with Kinanah or Ibn Kinanah. People set out after her, and Habbar bin al-Aswad caught up with her and kept prodding her camel with his spear until he threw her down; she miscarried and began to bleed, and they carried her (away from there). Banu Hashim and Banu Umayyah quarrelled over this matter, and Banu Umayyah said: We have more right to her; she was married to their son Abu al-As. She was staying with Hind bint Utbah bin Rabi'ah, and Hind used to say to her: All this is because of your father. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Zayd bin Harithah: "Will you not go and bring Zaynab?" Zayd said: Of course, O Messenger of Allah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take my ring and give it to her." So Zayd set out and kept making his way cautiously until he met a shepherd. Zayd asked: Whose goats do you graze? He said: Abu al-As's. Zayd asked: Whose goats are these? He said: Zaynab bint Muhammad's. Zayd walked with him for some distance, then said: Would you like me to give you something to give to her, without mentioning it to anyone? He said: Yes. So Zayd gave him the ring. The shepherd went off, brought his goats in and gave the ring to Sayyidah Zaynab. She recognised it and asked: Who gave you this? He said: A man. She asked: Where did you leave him? He said: At such and such a place. Sayyidah Zaynab kept silent until, when night came, she went out to him. When she reached him, Zayd said: Ride in front of me on the camel. She said: No, rather you ride in front of me. So Zayd rode in front and she rode behind him, until she arrived. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: "She is the best of my daughters; she suffered because of me." This reached Ali bin Husayn (Zayn al-Abidin), and he went to Urwah and said: I have been told that you narrate something in which the right of Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) appears to be diminished? Urwah said: By Allah, I would not like to have all the wealth between the east and the west and diminish any right of Fatimah that is hers. However, from now on I will never narrate it.
