It is narrated from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) or Sayyiduna Abu Kabshah (may Allah be pleased with him) (the narrator is unsure) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "My Ummah consists of four kinds of people: a man to whom Allah gave wealth and he spent it in the path that Allah prescribed, and a Muslim saw him and said: Would that I had wealth like so-and-so's, so that I could do as he does. These two are equal in reward. And a man to whom Allah gave wealth and he spent it on amusement, desires and pleasures, and a man saw him and said: Would that I had wealth like so-and-so's, so that I could do as he did. These two are equal in sin."
