حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ، ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ، ثنا الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ شَيْبَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي نَوْفَلِ بْنِ أَبِي عَقْرَبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، عَنِ الصَّوْمِ؟، فَقَالَ: «صُمْ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ يَوْمًا» ، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي أَقْوَى، قَالَ: «صُمْ يَوْمَيْنِ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ» قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ زِدْنِي، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «زِدْنِي زِدْنِي صُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ»
Sayyiduna Abu Aqrab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about fasting, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fast one day of the month." I said: O Messenger of Allah, I am strong. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fast two days of the month." I said: O Messenger of Allah, tell me more. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You want more? You want more? Fast three days of every month."
