حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، نا مَالِكُ بْنُ مِغْوَلٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُدْرِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عَامِرٍ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ فِيهِمْ شَيْءٌ فَاحْتَبَسَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَا حَبَسَكَ؟» قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ لَا يَضُرُّكُمْ مَنْ ضَلَّ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْ} [المائدة: ١٠٥] ، قَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَا يَضُرُّكُمْ مَنْ ضَلَّ مِنَ الْكُفَّارِ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that some circumstances arose among his people, because of which he stayed away from coming to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "What kept you away?" He said: I recited this verse: "O you who believe, take care of your own souls; whoever goes astray cannot harm you when you are rightly guided" [Surah al-Ma'idah: 105]. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "When you are rightly guided, whoever of the disbelievers goes astray cannot harm you."
