Sayyiduna Abu Rimthah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: My father and I set out towards the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). While we were on the way, he (peace and blessings be upon him) met us. My father said: Do you know who this is? I said: No. He said: This is the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I used to think that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would not be like other people. He said: And there was a man whose hair reached his shoulders, with a trace of henna in it, and he was wearing two green cloaks; it is as if I am still looking at the gleam of his shins. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to my father: "Who is this with you?" He said: By Allah, he is truly my son. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) laughed at my father swearing about me, then said: "You have spoken the truth. Indeed, he will not bear the burden of your offence, nor will you bear the burden of his." And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "No bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another." [Surah al-An'am: 164]
