Sayyiduna Yazid bin Shajarah (may Allah be pleased with him), whose word and deed were accepted as true, narrates that he addressed us and said: O people, remember the blessing of Allah upon you. How excellent is the blessing of Allah upon you! It is seen among green, yellow and red, and in the saddlebags there is what there is.
And when the people lined up for prayer and also lined up for battle, he used to say: The gates of heaven, the gates of Paradise and the gates of Hell are opened, and the wide-eyed maidens (hur al-'in) adorn themselves and look out. When a man advances, they say: "O Allah, help him," and when he turns his back, they veil themselves from him and say: "O Allah, forgive him." So strike hard at the faces of the enemy, may my father and mother be ransomed for you, and do not put the wide-eyed maidens to shame. For as soon as the first drop of the martyr's blood falls, all his deeds are forgiven, and two wives from the wide-eyed maidens descend to him, wipe the dust from his face and say: "Now the time has come," and he says: "Now the time has come." Then he is clothed in one hundred garments that are not woven by the children of Adam, but are from the produce of Paradise; if they (all) were placed between his two fingers, they would fit there. And he used to say: I have been informed that swords are the keys of Paradise. (These are the words of the narration of Abd al-Samad bin Hassan.)
