Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I saw that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) began the prayer, he would raise his hands up to the level of his ears, and he would do so when he intended to bow and after rising from bowing as well. When he sat, he would lay down his left foot and keep the right one upright, and place his left hand on his left thigh and his right hand on his right thigh, close two fingers making a ring, and point like this with the index finger.
