Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 18140 — When Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْبَزَّازُ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، ثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ، ثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، وَقَيْسٌ , وَشَيْبَانُ , عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ، قَالَ: لَمَّا مَاتَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ ابْنُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ , فَقَالَ النَّاسُ: انْكَسَفَتْ لِمَوْتِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ , فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ , إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ لَا يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ وَلَا لِحَيَاتِهِ , وَلَكِنَّهُمَا آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللهِ , فَإِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ فَصَلُّوا حَتَّى تَنْكَشِفَ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: When Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), died, the sun was eclipsed, and the people said: It has been eclipsed because of the death of Ibrahim. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out and said: "O people! The sun and the moon are not eclipsed on account of anyone's death or life; rather, they are two of the signs of Allah. When that happens, pray until (the eclipse) clears."
