حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْمُغِيرَةَ، وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَزْوَةٍ، «فَانْطَلَقَ لِحَاجَةٍ، فَاتَّبَعْتُهُ بِإِدَاوَةٍ، فَأَخْرَجَ يَدَيْهِ مِنْ جُبَّةٍ عَلَيْهِ ضَيِّقَةُ الْكُمَّيْنِ، فَأَخْرَجَهُمَا مِنْ تَحْتِهَا فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ، وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ»
Al-Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: I heard al-Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) delivering a sermon on the pulpit, saying: We went out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on a military expedition. "He (peace and blessings be upon him) went to relieve himself, and I followed him (peace and blessings be upon him) with a vessel of water. He (peace and blessings be upon him) was wearing a cloak whose sleeves were narrow, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) brought both his hands out from underneath it, then washed his face and hands, wiped his head and wiped over his leather socks."
