حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سُوَيْدٍ الشِّبَامِيُّ، أَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنَا الثَّوْرِيُّ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: كُنَّا فِي غَزَاةٍ وَمَعَنَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُقَالُ لَهُ: مُجَاشِعٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ، فَعَزَّتِ الْغَنَمُ فَأَمَرَ مُنَادِيًا فَنَادَى: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِنَّ الْجَذَعَةَ تُوَفِّي مِمَّا تُوَفِّي مِنْهُ الثَّنِيَّةُ»
Kulayb (may Allah have mercy on him) said: We were on a military expedition, and with us was one of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), called Mujashi' (may Allah be pleased with him), from Banu Sulaym. During that time sheep became scarce, so he ordered a crier to announce: Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A jadha'ah (a young animal) suffices for that (sacrifice) for which a thaniyyah suffices."
