It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abd al-Muttalib bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: Sayyiduna al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in a state of anger. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What has brought you here?" He said: "O Messenger of Allah, what treatment do we receive from Quraysh?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What happened between you and them that brought you here?" He said: "They meet one another with cheerful faces, but when they meet us, they treat us otherwise." Hearing this, he (peace and blessings be upon him) became angry until the vein between his eyes swelled. Then, when his anger subsided, he said: "By the One in whose Hand is my soul, faith does not enter the heart of a man until he loves you for the sake of Allah and His Messenger." Then he said: "What is the matter with people who hurt me concerning al-Abbas? A man's uncle is like his father."
