حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا ابْنُ الْأَصْبَهَانِيِّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُحَارِبِيُّ، عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ هُبَيْرَةَ بْنِ بَرِيمٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، وَعَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ، كِلَاهُمَا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمُ الصَّلَاةَ وَالْإِمَامُ عَلَى حَالٍ فَلْيَصْنَعْ كَمَا يَصْنَعُ»
Hubayrah bin Barim (may Allah have mercy on him) from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and Amr bin Murrah (may Allah have mercy on him) by way of Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Layla (may Allah have mercy on him) from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him), narrate that both of them (Sayyiduna Ali and Sayyiduna Mu'adh, may Allah be pleased with them both) reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you comes to the prayer and the imam is in some position, let him do as the imam is doing."
