حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ، أَنَّ أَصْحَابَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فِينَا رِجَالٌ يَتَطَيَّرُونَ، قَالَ: «ذَاكَ شَيْءٌ تَجِدُونَهُ فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ، وَلَا يَضُرَّكُمْ» ، قَالُوا: وَمِنَّا رِجَالٌ يَأْتُونَ الْكُهَّانَ، قَالَ: «فَلَا تَأْتُوا كَاهِنًا»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin al-Hakam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Messenger of Allah, among us are men who take evil omens." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is something you feel within yourselves; it does not harm you." They said: "And among us are men who go to soothsayers." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then do not go to soothsayers."
