حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ، ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ثنا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو شَيْخٍ، حَدَّثَنِي حِمَّانُ، قَالَ: حَجَّ مُعَاوِيَةُ فَدَعَا نَفَرًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ، فَقَالَ: «أَنْشُدُكُمُ اللهَ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنِ الذَّهَبِ؟» ، قَالُوا: اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ، قَالَ: «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ، أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ صُفَفِ النُّمُورِ؟» ، قَالُوا: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ، أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنِ الْحَرِيرِ؟» ، قَالُوا: اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ، قَالَ: «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ»
Himman (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) performed Hajj and called a group of the Ansar inside the Ka'bah, then said: "I adjure you by Allah, did you not hear the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbid gold?" They said: By Allah, yes. He said: "And I too bear witness. Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbid saddle cushions of leopard skin?" They said: Yes. He said: "And I too bear witness. Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbid silk?" They said: By Allah, yes. He said: "And I too bear witness."
