Ayyub bin Bashir bin al-Nu'man al-Ansari (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) told me; he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out until he ascended the pulpit and mentioned the martyrs of Uhud. He prayed for mercy for them and prayed for them abundantly, then said: "Allah gave one of the servants of Allah the choice between this world and what is with Him, and he chose what is with Allah." No one understood this except Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: We would ransom you with our fathers and mothers. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take it easy, O Abu Bakr! The best of all people to me in companionship and in wealth is Ibn Abi Quhafah."
