Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 16736 — I went on campaign with Sayyiduna

Thabit (may Allah have mercy on him), the freed slave of Abu Sufyan, said: I went on campaign with Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) in the land of the Romans. Some misfortune befell someone's baggage, so he called out: O Muslim servants of Allah! The first to respond was Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) himself. He dismounted and the people dismounted too, and they said: We will suffice on behalf of the Amir (leave it to us). He said: "Listen! It has reached me that the first to come to help is Jibril (peace be upon him), so I wanted to be the second."
