Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 16275 — The Prophet ﷺ passed by Sayyiduna Ka'b

حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، قَالَ: مَرَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِكَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ وَقَدْ آذَاهُ هَوَامُّ رَأْسِهِ، فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَحْلِقَ، فَجَاءَهُ الْوَحْيُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنْ شِئْتَ فَصُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ، وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَرَقًا بَيْنَ سِتَّةِ مَسَاكِينٍ، وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَاذْبَحْ شَاةً»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was suffering from the lice of his head, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him to shave his head. Then revelation came, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you wish, fast three days; if you wish, feed one faraq to six poor people; and if you wish, slaughter a goat."
