It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that, in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he demanded from Ibn Abi Hadrad in the mosque a debt that he owed him, and their voices were raised until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), who was in his house, heard them. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to them, until he (peace and blessings be upon him) drew back the curtain of his chamber, then called out to Ka'b bin Malik: "O Ka'b!" He said: At your service, O Messenger of Allah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured with his hand: Leave off half of your debt. Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I have done so, O Messenger of Allah. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said (to Ibn Abi Hadrad): "Get up and pay him."
