Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that he came to his family from a journey and found with them a bowl of tharid made from the meat of sacrificial animals, and he refused to eat it. Then he came to Sayyiduna Qatadah bin al-Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with him), who told him that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had said to the people at the time of Hajj: "I had commanded you not to eat the meat of sacrificial animals beyond three days so that people would have enough, but now I make it lawful for you, so eat as you wish."
