حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ، ثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ رِئَابٍ، عَنْ كِنَانَةَ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ الْعَدَوِيِّ، عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ مُخَارِقٍ الْهِلَالِيِّ، قَالَ: تَحَمَّلْتُ حَمَالَةً عَنْ قَوْمِي، فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي تَحَمَّلْتُ حَمَالَةً عَنْ قَوْمِي فَأَعِنِّي عَلَيْهَا، قَالَ: «بَلْ نَتَحَمَّلُهَا عَنْكَ يَا قَبِيصَةُ، هِيَ لَكَ فِي الصَّدَقَةِ إِذَا كَانَ» ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «يَا قَبِيصَةُ، إِنَّ الْمَسْأَلَةَ لَا تَحِلُّ إِلَّا لِإِحْدَى ثَلَاثٍ، رَجُلٌ تَحَمَّلَ بِحَمَالَةٍ عَنْ قَوْمِهِ أَرَادَ بِهِ الْإِصْلَاحَ فَسَأَلَ فَإِذَا بَلَغَ أَمْسَكَ، وَرَجُلٌ أَصَابَتْهُ فَاقَةٌ فَمَشَى ثَلَاثَةٌ مِن ذَوِي الْحِجَى مِن قَوْمِهِ فَسَأَلَ حَتَّى إِذَا أَصَابَ قِوَامًا أَو سِدَادًا أَمْسَكَ، وَمَا سِوَى ذَلِكَ يَا قَبِيصَةُ مِنَ الْمَسْأَلَةِ سُحْتٌ» . مَرَّتَيْنِ.
Sayyiduna Qabisah bin Mukhariq al-Hilali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I took upon myself a guarantee on behalf of my people, so I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, I have taken upon myself a guarantee on behalf of my people, so help me with it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, O Qabisah, we will bear it for you; when the charity comes, it will be yours." Then he said: "O Qabisah, asking is permissible only for one of three: a man who takes on a guarantee on behalf of his people in order to make peace, so he asks, and when he has reached the amount he stops; and a man struck by want, until three men of sound judgement from his people come forward (to vouch for him), so he asks until he obtains enough to sustain him or to suffice him, then he stops. And, O Qabisah, asking other than this is unlawful earnings (suht)." (He (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated this twice.)
