Qatan bin Qabisah bin Mukhariq narrated from his father, Sayyiduna Qabisah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Taking omens from birds, drawing lines in the sand, and superstitious pessimism are part of sorcery (jibt)."
Awf said: 'Iyafah means taking omens by making birds fly, and tarq means drawing lines on the ground.
