حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ، ثَنَا آدَمُ بْنُ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ، ثَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ جَمَّازٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ، ثَنَا المِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، ثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مَطَرٍ، ثَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ جَمَّازٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي كَاهِلٍ، أنَّهُ قَالَ: " مَرَرْتُ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَتَوَضَّأُ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَدْ أَعْطَانَا اللهُ مِنْكَ خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا، فَغَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ ثُمَّ تَمَضْمَضَ ثَلَاثًا وَاسْتَنْشَقَ ثَلَاثًا وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا وَذِرَاعَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا، وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ وَلَمْ يُوَقِّتْ، وَظَهْرَ قَدَمَيْهِ وَلَمْ يُوَقِّتْ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «يَا أَبَا كَاهِلٍ ضَعِ الطُّهُورَ مَوَاضِعَهُ، وَابْقِ فَضْلَ طُهُورِكَ لِأَهْلِكَ، لَا تُعَطِّشْ أَهْلَكَ، وَلَا تَشْقُقْ عَلَى خَادِمِكَ»
Sayyiduna Abu Kahil (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I passed by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was performing ablution (wudu), and I said: O Messenger of Allah, Allah Almighty has granted us a great deal of good through you. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) washed his palms, then rinsed his mouth three times, put water into his nose three times, washed his face three times and washed both his forearms three times. He wiped his head and fixed no number for it, and he wiped the tops of both his feet and fixed no number for that either. Then he said: "O Abu Kahil, put the water of ablution in its proper places (that is, do not pour more than is needed), and leave the remainder of your ablution water for your family. Do not leave your family thirsty, and do not make things hard for your servant."
