حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ، ثنا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ثنا رِشْدِينَ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هَانِي، عَنْ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ الْجَنْبِيِّ، عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ قَالَ: بَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَاعِدٌ إِذْ دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ، فَصَلَّى ثُمَّ قَالَ: اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «عَجِلْتَ أَيُّهَا الْمُصَلِّي، إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ فَقَعَدْتَ، فَاحْمَدِ اللهَ بِمَا هُوَ أَهْلُهُ، ثُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَيَّ، ثُمَّ ادْعُهُ» ثُمَّ صَلَّى آخَرُ، فَحَمِدَ اللهَ، وَصَلَّى عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «سَلْ تُعْطَهُ»
Sayyiduna Fadalah bin Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting when a man came in and prayed, then said: "O Allah, forgive me and have mercy on me." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O worshipper, you have been hasty. When you pray and sit, first praise Allah as He deserves, then send blessings upon me, then supplicate to Him." Then another man prayed; he praised Allah and sent blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Ask, and you will be given."
