حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا غُنْدَرٌ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ صُبَيْحٍ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ سِيرِينَ ذَكَرُوا عِنْدَ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ: «الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ الْحَيِّ» فَقَالُوا: كَيْفَ يُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ الْحَيِّ؟ فَقَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Muhammad bin Sirin said: It was mentioned in the presence of Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) that "the deceased is punished because of the weeping of the living." The people said: How can the deceased be punished because of the weeping of the living? He said: the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said this.
