Sayyiduna Ikrash bin Dhu'ayb (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Banu Murrah sent me with the zakah of their wealth to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) in Madinah and found him (peace and blessings be upon him) sitting among the Muhajirun and the Ansar. I brought him (peace and blessings be upon him) camels that looked like the roots of the arta tree. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who is the man?" I said: Ikrash bin Dhu'ayb. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go higher in your lineage." I said: Son of Hurqus bin Ja'd bin Amr bin al-Nazzal bin Murrah bin Ubayd, and these are the zakah camels of the Banu Murrah bin Ubayd. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled, then said: "These are the camels of my people; this is the zakah of my people." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that they be branded with the brand of the zakah camels and added to them. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) took my hand and took me to the house of Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), and asked: Is there any food? A large bowl was brought to us with plenty of tharid and pieces of meat, and we began eating from it. I began moving my hand about its sides, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of my right hand with his left hand and said: "O Ikrash, eat from one place, for it is one kind of food." Then a platter was brought to us with various kinds of fresh dates. I began eating from what was in front of me, while the hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) moved around the whole platter. Then he said: "O Ikrash, eat from wherever you wish, for they are not of one kind." Then water was brought to us, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) washed his hands and wiped his face, forearms and head with the moisture of his palms, then said: "O Ikrash, this is the ablution for what the fire has altered."
