Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik al-Ashja'i (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), while leading a funeral prayer, making this supplication: "O Allah, forgive him, have mercy on him, pardon him, grant him well-being, make his hospitality honourable, make wide the place he enters, wash him with water, snow and hail, and cleanse him of sins as a white garment is cleansed of dirt; and give him a home better than his home, a family better than his family, and a wife better than his wife; and protect him from the trial of the grave and the punishment of the Fire." Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Then I wished that I were that deceased person, because of this supplication of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
