حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، أَخْبَرَنِي عِتْبَانُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِمَامَ قَوْمِهِ وَقَدْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا فَقَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَنَّهُ لَمَّا سَاءَ بَصَرِي شَقَّتْ عَلِيَّ إِجَازَةُ الْوَادِي إِذَا سَالَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ مَسْجِدِ قَوْمِي، فَقَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ جُمُعَةٍ: أَرَأَيْتَنِي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، لَوْ أَتَيْتَنِي فَصَلَّيْتَ فِي مَكَانٍ مِنْ بَيْتِي أَتَّخِذُهُ مُصَلًّى، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «سَأَفْعَلُ» فَغَدَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ السَّبْتِ وَمَعَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ رَضِي اللهُ عَنْهُمَا، فَدَخَلَ فَمَا جَلَسَ حَتَّى قَالَ: «أَيْنَ تُحِبُّ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ فِي بَيْتِكَ؟» فَأَشَرْتُ إِلَى النَّاحِيَةِ الَّتِي أَرَدْتُ فَصَلَّى فِيهَا ضُحَى، وَحَبَسْنَاهُ عَلَى خَزِيرَةٍ يُصْنَعُ لَهُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Itban bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), who was the imam of his people and had been present at Badr, that he said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Since my eyesight became poor, when the valley floods between me and the mosque of my people, crossing it becomes difficult for me. Then he said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a Friday: O Messenger of Allah, what do you think if you came to me and prayed at some place in my house which I may take as a place of prayer? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will do so." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came on Saturday, and with him (peace and blessings be upon him) were Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). He (peace and blessings be upon him) came in and, without sitting down, said: "Where in your house would you like me to pray?" I pointed to the place I wanted, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed the Duha (forenoon) prayer there. And we kept him (peace and blessings be upon him) for some khazirah that was being made for him (peace and blessings be upon him).
