حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ح وثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، قَالَا: ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ لِي أَسْمَاءً، أَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، وَأَنَا أَحْمَدُ، وَأَنَا الْمَاحِي يَمْحُو اللهُ بِيَ الْكُفْرَ، وَالْحَاشِرُ يُحْشَرُ النَّاسُ عَلَى قَدَمِي، وَالْعَاقِبُ» فَسَأَلْتُ سُفْيَانَ مَا الْعَاقِبُ؟ قَالَ: «آخِرُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ»
Sayyiduna Jubayr bin Mut'im (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have several names: I am Muhammad, I am Ahmad, I am al-Mahi (the Eraser), Allah erases disbelief through me, and al-Hashir (the Gatherer), at whose feet the people will be gathered, and al-'Aqib (the Last)." The narrator said: I asked Sufyan: What is al-'Aqib? He said: "The very last of the prophets."
