It is narrated from Sayyiduna Iyad bin Himar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), while delivering a sermon, said: "Allah Almighty has commanded me to teach you what you did not know, of what I have been taught this day. All wealth that I have granted My servants is lawful. I created all My servants upright (hunafa'), then the devils came to them and led them astray from their religion, and made unlawful for them what I had made lawful for them, and commanded them to associate with Me that for which I sent down no authority. Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, looked at the people of the earth and was displeased with all of them, Arabs and non-Arabs alike, except a few remnants of the People of the Book. And He said: I have sent you only to test you and to test (others) through you, and I have sent down to you a Book that water cannot wash away, which you recite both asleep and awake. And Allah Almighty commanded me to go to Quraysh, so I said: O my Lord! They will smash my head and leave it like a piece of bread. He said: Drive them out as they drove you out; fight them, and We will help you; spend, and it will be spent on you; and send an army, and I will send with it five times its like." The narrator then mentioned the rest of the hadith.
