حَدَّثَنَا مُطَّلِبُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ عُثْمَانُ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ الرُّعَيْنِيُّ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ هِنْدٍ الْحَجْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ، عَنْ نَبِيِّ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى سُبَيْعَةَ الْأَسْلَمِيَّةَ تَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهَا فَقَالَ: «مَا لَهَا تَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهَا؟» قَالَتْ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ فِي يَمِينِي قُرْحَةٌ، قَالَ لَهَا: «وَإِنْ، مَوْتَ بَقَرَةٍ، فَأَخَذَهَا طَاعُونٌ فَقَتَلَهَا»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw Subay'ah al-Aslamiyyah eating with her left hand, so he said: "What is wrong with her that she eats with her left hand?" She said: O Prophet of Allah! There is a sore on my right hand. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "Even so (do not eat with the left hand); (may she die) the death of a cow" — then the plague struck her and she died.
