حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، ثَنَا نُعَيْمٌ، ثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، أَخْبَرَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ مُلَيْلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ: كُنْتُ مَعَ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَيَقْرَأَنَّ الْقُرْآنَ رِجَالٌ لَا يُجَاوِزُ تَرَاقِيَهُمْ يَمْرُقُونَ مِنَ الدِّينِ كَمَا يَمْرُقُ السَّهْمُ مِنَ الرَّمِيَّةِ»
Abd al-Malik bin Mulayl (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I was with Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Some people will recite the Qur'an, but it will not go beyond their throats; they will pass out of the religion just as an arrow passes through the game."
