Nu'aym bin Dajajah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: We were with Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) when Sayyiduna Uqbah Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) came to him. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: "Do I not see you giving people fatwas?" He said: "Listen! I only tell them that the later times will be worse." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Tell us what you heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say about the hundred (years)." He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "A hundred years will not pass over the people while there remains on the earth an eye that blinks." At this Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "You have made a mistake; he (peace and blessings be upon him) only said: '(This is) for those who are on the face of the earth on that day.' And will ease and joy come except after the hundred (years)?"
