حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ، عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ قَالَ: اجْتَمَعَ حُذَيْفَةُ، وَأَبُو مَسْعُودٍ فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ: أَنَا أَعْلَمُ بِمَا مَعَ الدَّجَّالِ مِنْهُ، «إِنَّ مَعَهُ نَهَرًا مِنْ نَارٍ وَنَهَرًا مِنْ مَاءٍ، وَالَّذِي يَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُ نَارٌ مَاءٌ، وَالَّذِي يَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُ مَاءٌ نَارٌ، فَمَنْ أَدْرَكَ ذَلِكَ مِنْكُمْ فَيَشْرَبُ مِنَ الَّذِي يَرَى أَنَّهُ نَارٌ فَإِنَّهُ يَجِدَهَا مَاءً» فَقَالَ أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ: وَهَكَذَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ
Rib'i bin Hirash (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sayyiduna Hudhayfah and Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) met together, and Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I know better what the Dajjal will have with him: he will have a river of fire and a river of water; what they think is fire will be water, and what they think is water will be fire. So whoever among you lives to see that, let him drink from the one he thinks is fire, for he will find it to be water. At this Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I too heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say the same.
