Rib'i bin Hirash (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I sat with Sayyiduna Hudhayfah and Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with them both), and one of them said to the other: "Narrate what you heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." The other said: "Rather, you narrate, and I will confirm you." So one of them narrated and the other confirmed him. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "A man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said: 'Look into his deeds.' He will say: 'My Lord, I did no good deed, except that I had wealth and I used to deal with people; whoever was well-off, I was lenient with him, and whoever was in hardship, I gave him respite until he was in ease.' Allah Almighty will say: 'I am more deserving than he to be lenient,' and so he will be forgiven." (The other) said: "You have spoken the truth; I too heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say this."
Then he said: I also heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "A man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection who had said to his family: 'When I die, burn me, then grind me, then scatter me facing a violent wind.' So Allah gathered him on the Day of Resurrection and said: 'Why did you do that?' He said: 'Out of fear of You.' So he was forgiven." (The other) said: "You have spoken the truth; I too heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say this."
These are the words of the narration of Abd al-Rahman bin Maghra'.
