Khalid bin Umayr al-Adawi narrated: Utbah bin Ghazwan (may Allah be pleased with him) addressed us and said: "Indeed, this world has announced its end and has swiftly turned its back, and nothing remains of it except the like of the dregs of a vessel. And you are in an abode from which you are about to move, so move with the best of what you have with you. And I saw myself as the seventh of seven with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); we had nothing to eat except the leaves of trees, until our mouths became sore." (The narrator said: In one narration it says) I found a cloak, (and in the other narration it says) I picked up a cloak and tore it into two halves; I wore one half myself and gave one half to Sa'd. Today there is not one of those seven who is not over some city, and the rulers after me will surely be put to the test. By Allah! There has never been a prophethood that was not transformed until it became kingship and tyranny. And I have been told that (in one narration) a stone, and (in the other narration) a tablet, is thrown from the edge of Hell and it keeps falling towards its bottom for seventy autumns (years) (according to both narrations), and it will surely be filled. And between two of the door-leaves of the gates of Paradise is a distance of forty days, and a day will surely come upon the gates of Paradise when there will not be a single gate among them that is not crowded. And I seek refuge with Allah from being great in my own eyes and small in the sight of Allah.
