Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I said: O Messenger of Allah! We are a people who hunt with these dogs and birds, so what (of their game) is lawful for us? He (peace and blessings be upon him) recited (this verse): "The hunting animals you have trained, teaching them of what Allah has taught you" [Surah al-Ma'idah: 4] to the end of the verse. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Even if it kills? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Even if it kills." I said: O Messenger of Allah! And if other dogs join it? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat only that over which the name of Allah has been mentioned." I said: O Messenger of Allah! We also shoot arrows? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat whatever you have pierced and over which you mentioned the name of Allah." I said: O Messenger of Allah! What is the ruling on the mi'rad? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Of the mi'rad, eat only what you have slaughtered."
