Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 14216 — I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، ثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ صَيْدِ الْمِعْرَاضِ؟ فَقَالَ: «مَا أَصَابَ بِحَدِّهِ فَكُلْ وَمَا أَصَابَ بِعَرْضِهِ فَهُوَ وَقِيذٌ» قَالَ: وَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ صَيْدِ الْكَلْبِ؟ فَقَالَ: «مَا أَمْسَكَ عَلَيْكَ فَكُلْ، فَإِنَّ أَخْذَ الْكَلْبِ ذَكَاتُهُ وَإِنْ وَجَدْتَ مَعَ كَلْبِكَ كَلْبًا غَيْرَهُ فَحَسِبْتَ أَنْ يَكُونَ قَدْ أَخَذَهُ مَعَهُ وَقَدْ قَتَلَهُ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ، فَإِنَّمَا ذَكَرْتَ اسْمَ اللهِ عَلَى كَلْبِكَ وَلَمْ تَذْكُرْ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ»
Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about game killed by the mi'rad. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whatever it strikes with its edge, eat it; and whatever it strikes with its broad side is waqidh." He said: I also asked him (peace and blessings be upon him) about game caught by a dog. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whatever it holds back for you, eat it, for the dog's catching it is its slaughter. And if you find another dog with your dog and you think that it too caught it together with it and killed it, then do not eat, for you only mentioned the name of Allah over your own dog; you did not mention it over the other."
