عمير مولى آبي اللحم الغفاري واسم آبي اللحم عبد الله بن عبد بن مالك بن عبد الله بن عفان وكان آبي اللحم شاعرا وشهد عمير فتح خيبر وإنما سمي آبي اللحم لأنه كان يمتنع من أكل اللحم.
Umayr (may Allah be pleased with him), freed slave of Abi al-Lahm al-Ghifari; the name of Abi al-Lahm was Abdullah bin Abd bin Malik bin Abdullah bin Affan; he was a poet; Umayr was present at the conquest of Khaybar; he was called Abi al-Lahm because he refrained from eating meat

حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، ثَنَا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، ثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، قَالَا: ثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُمَيْرًا، مَوْلَى آبِي اللَّحْمِ قَالَ: أَمَرَنِي مَوْلَايَ أَنْ أُقَدِّدَ لَحْمًا فَجَاءَنِي مِسْكِينٌ فَأطْعَمْتُهُ مِنْهُ، فَعَلِمَ فَضَرَبَنِي، فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَدَعَاهُ، فَقَالَ: «لِمَ ضَرَبْتَهُ؟» قَالَ: يُطْعِمُ طَعَامًا مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ آمُرَهُ، قَالَ: «الْأَجْرُ بَيْنَكُمَا»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umayr (may Allah be pleased with him), the freed slave of Abi al-Lahm, that he said: My master ordered me to dry some meat to preserve it. Meanwhile a poor man came to me, and I fed him some of it. My master came to know of it and beat me. I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and told him about it, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) summoned my master and asked: "Why did you beat him?" He said: "He gives away food without my ordering him to." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The reward is shared between you both."
