Abdullah, the son of Sayyiduna Amr bin al-Fagwa' al-Khuza'i (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates from his father: After the Conquest (of Makkah), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called me. He (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to send me with some wealth to Abu Sufyan so that he could distribute it among Quraysh in Makkah, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Find a companion. Then Amr bin Umayyah al-Damri came to me and said: I have learned that you want to set out and are looking for a companion; I will be your companion. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had said: "When you find a companion, let me know." So I informed him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Who?" I said: Amr bin Umayyah al-Damri. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When he comes down into the land of his people, be wary of him, for the saying goes: Even if he is your own full brother, do not trust him." So we set out until I reached al-Abwa', and he said: I have some business with my people, so wait for me. I said: Very well. When he turned away, I remembered what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had said, so I fastened the saddle on my camel and set off, driving it fast, until when I reached al-Asafir, there he was with a group of his men, trying to block my way. He said: I drove (my camel) fast and heard him (behind me). When he saw that I had got ahead of him, they turned back. Then he came to me and said: I had some business with my people. I said: Very well. Then we travelled on until we reached Makkah, and I handed the wealth over to Abu Sufyan.
