حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ، يَقُولُ " حِينَ بُويِعَ لِعُثْمَانَ: مَا أَلَوْنَا عَنْ أَعْلَاهَا ذَا فَوْقٍ "
Abdullah bin Sinan said: I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) say, when the pledge of allegiance was given to Uthman: "We have spared no effort in choosing the highest and best person for this matter."
